Neck pain is an ultra common issue which bothers people at all stages of life, there are many approaches to treating neck pain, but there’s one we hardly ever hear about in the news…This is an article for those of you who have never heard of us, chiropractic or alternative approaches to pain – read on!
Neck pain
Neck pain is so common that for many of us it has become “just a part of life” – in fact, we often confuse issues such as neck pain, shoulder pain and headaches into a generic complaint of “neck pain” when in fact, the issue lies further down the spine or even in the muscles instead.
Neck problems aren’t always pain based either – feeling dizzy, off-balance or tense in and around the neck is also par for the course in many of our lives, but we’re here to tell you that this does not need to be the case!
Chiropractic care for neck pain
Chiropractic care is a natural treatment approach to neck pain that has the ability to address all of these common issues as a whole – while medication can certainly be effective in the short term, chiropractic aims to reduce neck problems in the long term by tacking the underlying problem which is really causing the issue.
Chiropractors primarily focus on improving and maintaining the structure and function of your entire spine, and that includes your neck – gentle adjustments applied to the neck have been shown to effectively improve range of motion which can help reduce pain.
What’s more, even a complex issue such as disc herniation doesn’t automatically mean your condition is too advanced for chiropractic care. Research has shown that nearly 80% of people with a disc herniation in their neck found relief with spinal adjustments.[1]
So, if you’ve been living with neck pain, here’s what we want you to know…
- Drugs and surgeries usually aren’t recommended for the care of neck pain due to their potential side effects and risks. [2]
- The Cleveland Clinic, American College of Physicians, and other high profile healthcare organizations support chiropractic adjustments for the care of neck issues. [3]
- Recent research has also shown that chiropractor provided spinal adjustments can provide more relief than steroid injections for neck pain caused by a disc herniation.[4]
